More About Asian Cucumber Salad
- You can play with different spices and ingredients to amp up the flavors and make it more savory. For example, you can add coriander powder, garlic paste, or any spicy ingredient to heat this salad.
- I’ve used olive oil to give it a more glossy texture. You can also use Mustard or sesame oil to add a more dense flavor.
- Want more nuanced flavors? The honey and red chilis powder in parallel offers a zesty and sweet flavor that feels relaxing on a plate.
- If you’re short on time or ingredients for a healthy salad, Asian cucumber salad is here to save the day!
Ingredients:
- Cucumber: I like using thick cucumbers, but if you have older ones with thick skin, just peel them off for a better taste.
- Sugar Or Honey: I’ve used sugar for sweet nodes. But you can also opt for Honey if you want to make your bowl more healthy.
- Vinegar: Citrus flavors are love! And such salads are near to my heart. You can use vinegar of lime juice for a citric taste.
- Spice: Simple red chili powder and chili oil are two spices that make the entire heat in this cucumber salad.
- Garlic Paste: Minced one clove of garlic in the mortar & pestle for a pungent taste.
- Olive Oil: Generally, most folks use sesame oil in this Asian cucumber salad, but I’ve opted for olive oil for a more glossy and nutritious touch.
- Sesame Seeds: These will be used to garnish and build an elegant texture.
Let’s Prepare The Salad
- Grab a cucumber and chop it into beautiful round pieces. Avoid thin slices; they might break while mixing.
- Sprinkle the salt over the salad to give it a more umami taste. Leave for 10 minutes uncovered. Over this time, the cucumber will leave some moisture at the bottom; extract that moisture after 10 minutes and prepare the bowl for dressing.
- Then add the olive oil, red chili powder, red chili oil, sugar, vinegar, and black pepper to the bowl and mix it thoroughly.
- Finally sprinkle some sesame seeds over the bowl and enjoy the delicious Asian cucumber salad with your main meal.
