Ingredients
  

For the Cookies:

  • 1 ¾ cups 220g all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup 25g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup 113g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • ¼ cup 60ml buttermilk

For Coating:

  • ½ cup 60g powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in egg, vanilla, vinegar, and red food coloring.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients and buttermilk, alternating between the two. Mix until combined.
  • Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll dough into 1-tablespoon balls, coat in powdered sugar, and place on baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until cracks appear. Let cool before serving.
