Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for a little heat
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce or any tomato-based pasta sauce
  • 9 oz cheese tortellini fresh or refrigerated
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • Optional toppings: Shredded mozzarella extra parmesan, or fresh parsley

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet; cook chicken until golden. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté garlic and red pepper flakes in the same skillet.
  • Add chicken broth, heavy cream, and marinara sauce. Stir to combine.
  • Add tortellini to the sauce and simmer until tender.
  • Return chicken to the skillet and stir in parmesan and basil.
  • Serve hot, garnished with extra basil and parmesan.
